The Trustmark Companies Extends Health Coverage to Graduating College Students Ahead of the Healthcare Reform Provision Lake Forest, Ill., May 10, 2010 – The Trustmark Companies is proactively extending health insurance coverage to graduating college students and other adult dependent children currently enrolled in a health plan with the Trustmark Companies. This extension occurs prior to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act provision going into effect September 23 of this year. New provisions of the federal healthcare reform legislation that recently passed require plans to offer dependent care coverage up to age 26 on the first plan anniversary after September 23, 2010. Rather than wait until the fall, The Trustmark Companies is accelerating the implementation of certain aspects of the provision, making them available as of June 1, 2010. “This early implementation will ensure graduating college students maintain health insurance coverage without falling into the ranks of the uninsured. This ultimately closes the possible gap in coverage that would have occurred until fall,” said John Anderson, Senior Vice President, Trustmark. The Trustmark Companies will work with all current group customers to implement this provision early as follows:
Extending the dependent coverage early for graduating college students is just one way The Trustmark Companies is working to implement the new, complex federal healthcare reform directives. Please direct any questions regarding this extension of coverage for those dependents currently enrolled under a health insurance plan with The Trustmark Companies to your Trustmark representative.
